When people ask me how I learned to "do art" I always say "I've done art before I could talk...it's just the way that side of my brain works... but don't think I won some genetic jackpot- I'm TERRIBLE at math!" My style is now something like an imaginative, colorful blend of mixed-media and narrative based works. Every piece has a story that I write in my head.
So... I started to sell art professionally in 2010 and since then I've been able to do some cool stuff in the art world including designing and completing several murals, painting hundreds and hundreds of original works and now my first children's book!
I would still be hoarding my art in my garage if it weren't for my family and close friends who nudged me out and who gave me constructive criticism.
I would still be painting what I thought people wanted to buy until my small following of loyal customers said random stuff like "hey... can you paint a giraffe on a bicycle?"
I would still be doubting my artistic progress if it weren't for stay-at-home dads, sweet grandmas, waitresses, fishermen...ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE who believed in me.
Without community I don't know that my creative spark would've survived. And there definitely would be no Mattie the Giraffe.
See the progression of Mattie the Giraffe as I posted new illustrations on my IG and Facebook and feel free to leave feedback! Look at my most popular works on my website and reach out anytime on whatever social platform works for you.
